Futures of Listening presents Currents - a multi-day listening event exploring a 78-meter industrial heritage building as an artistic instrument.
The unique Bagagehall of Loods6 plays a direct role in the experience of the performances, where architecture, technology, and spatial sound converge.
12 artists will perform sound pieces developed specifically for this programme, with an emphasis on acoustic and spatial experiments.
Currents consists of three evenings of spatial sound listening sessions ranging from live sets to hybrid and DJ sets. Each evening uses a different sound system configuration, creating in-situ listening settings. Friday evening is entirely dedicated to the new Ambrio Mixer, an innovative new DJ mixer that opens the door for DJs and live performers to explore new possibilities for spatial and multi-speaker performances. Additionally, the programme is expanded by daytime workshops, demonstrations, and a meetup for spatial sound practitioners.

Configuration I brings together the subtle omnidirectional soundsystems of in:resonance and 4DSOUND with the soulful speakers and powerful low-end frequencies of Amsterdam based Sol Systems. This setting offers you a special evening featuring live sets by local and international artists, who have created new compositions especially for this 78-metre-long space. Kick back, sit back, wander or simply drift away in the currents of sound.
The first artists will move through the sculptural end of spatial sound. Rrose (Live) brings hypnotic, psychoacoustic techno built on microtonality and the limits of perception. Liza Kuzyakova (Live) works at the intersection of installation, spatial composition and performance, drawing out the perceptual tension between the materiality of objects, acoustic space, and the imaginative dimensions of sound. Hugo Lioret (Live) explores the connections between art, technology, and ecology through electroacoustic composition, improvisation, audiovisual performances, and field recording. Andreas Tegnander (Live), a returning FIBER artist, builds cross-sensory sonic interventions, reimagining technology into ‘public sensory organs’ that surface the invisible forces shaping how we perceive.

This second evening spans a wider range, from delicate and atmospheric to dense and textural. Wata Igarashi (DJ) brings shimmering, psychedelic techno, crystalline structures rising into something cosmic. OK EG (Live), known for masterful sound design and meticulous arrangements, will perform parts of their 2025 album, Silent Green, diving into deep and psychedelic terrains. Nadia Struiwigh (Hybrid Live) performs live from hardware, shaping sound through intuition and texture. Zohar (DJ) works cutting-edge, percussive club sonics with a razor-sharp, highly dynamic signature, rattling low-end and rhythmic tension the common thread. State OFFF (DJ) closes with a spatial gqom set, transmuting Durban's minimalist sound into steel beams on concrete.

Currents | Gathering Sounds: Spatial Sound Meetup
- Date
- Sunday 25 October
- Time
- 13:00–18:00
- Format
- Community meetup
We wrap up with a community meet-up on Sunday afternoon, where spatial sound practitioners will each share something from their practice, like a tool, a patch, a speaker they've built, a work in progress, a field recording, or a score. This space is for work that’s still taking shape and encourages us to think and listen together. It’s one of several community events in the Futures of Listening project.
The common thread is spatial sound, in the broadest sense. Multichannel composition, immersive audio, sound installation, acoustic and architectural listening, spatial interfaces and instruments, sonification, binaural and headphone-based work: anyone working somewhere along this spectrum, from the technological to the experiential, is welcome.
